¾ cup shortening

5 cups powdered sugar

2 Tablespoons frosting whitener

13 Tablespoons milk

23 large drops green gel food color

23 large drops Red gel food coloring


Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (177℃) and prepare 6-inch half sphere pans with cooking spray and a flower nail in the base.
  • In a large bowl, combine melted butter, buttermilk, eggs, and vanilla; mix well.
  • Add cake mix and stir until moistened, then beat on medium speed for about 2 minutes.
  • Pour batter into the prepared pan, keeping it below the rim to avoid overflow.
  • Bake for 35-45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean; cool for 10 minutes before removing from the pan.
  • For frosting, beat together butter and shortening; mix in powdered sugar and vanilla until well combined.
  • If using frosting whitener, remove 1 cup of frosting, color half red and the rest deep green.
  • Add milk to the remaining frosting if needed until spreadable consistency is reached.
  • Assemble cake by placing a smear of frosting on a plate, centering the cake on top, and spreading a crumb coat.
  • Chill for 10 minutes, then apply a thicker layer of frosting and smooth it out.
  • Pipe red frosting for stitching and green frosting for the grass border as desired.
